{"id":32760,"date":"2021-07-27T00:09:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-26T23:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thedoctorwhocompanion.com\/?p=32760"},"modified":"2021-07-26T12:09:41","modified_gmt":"2021-07-26T11:09:41","slug":"check-out-the-new-teaser-trailer-for-doctor-who-series-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedoctorwhocompanion.com\/2021\/07\/27\/check-out-the-new-teaser-trailer-for-doctor-who-series-13\/","title":{"rendered":"Check Out the New Teaser Trailer for Doctor Who Series 13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ttr_start\"><\/div>\n<p>The BBC released a teaser trailer for <em>Doctor Who<\/em> Series 13 at this last weekend&#8217;s San Diego Comic Con, promising &#8220;her biggest adventure yet&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What this means is actually a serialized form, i.e. one story told across the whole series, seemingly like <em>The Trial of a Time Lord<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trailer introduces us to new companion, Dan Lewis (John Bishop), and recurring character, Vinder (Jacob Anderson), who will board the TARDIS during the run of 8 episodes, but also has his own spaceship. Here&#8217;s that trailer in full:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Series 13 Trailer | Doctor Who\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pNb51OwYO6M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Admittedly, it isn&#8217;t very long, and consists of some repeated shots and a lot of the TARDIS spinning the Vortex, but at least us fans haven&#8217;t been completely forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked to give a one-word clue for Series 13, Chris Chibnall (<em>Doctor Who<\/em>&#8216;s current showrunner) said, &#8220;Swarm&#8221;. <em>The Invisible Enemy<\/em> sequel (not at all) CONFIRMED.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was also confirmed that the series will feature some returning foes that the Thirteenth Doctor hasn&#8217;t faced yet&#8230; which isn&#8217;t a massive shock, given that we&#8217;ve seen a few of them on location already. It does seem an odd choice not to lead with that, however: surely the point of returning enemies is to generate publicity (as well as tell a decent story)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A serialized story does at least mean &#8220;lots of cliffhangers&#8221; and as we know the series does feature numerous times and places, it does seem likely that it&#8217;ll follow <em>Trial of a Time Lord<\/em>&#8216;s example in giving us one linking narrative with smaller tales to tell each week. But that&#8217;s pure speculation right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Doctor Who<\/em> returns to TV later in 2021. <\/p>\n<div class=\"ttr_end\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The
