The rumours were true: Disney+ will become the overseas home of Doctor Who<\/em> from 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under a shared creative vision, the BBC and Disney will deliver Doctor Who<\/em> to future generations on an unprecedented scale with Disney+ as the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who<\/em> outside the UK and Ireland. The announcement \u2013 which was made this morning by the Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan<\/em> – begins a new collaboration between BBC and Disney Branded Television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new episodes will premiere on the BBC and Disney+ beginning in late 2023 for fans all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s also been confirmed that Gatwa’s Doctor will debut “over the festive season” next year, after three specials, celebrating the show’s 60th anniversary, with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show will be produced in Wales by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios Production, under showrunner, Russell T Davies, who says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I love this show, and this is the best of both worlds \u2013 with the vision and joy of the BBC and Disney+ together we can launch the TARDIS all around the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while keeping our traditional home firmly on the BBC in the UK.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Oh, and check out the new logo at the top of this post, presumably made solely for Disney+!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BBC will continue to be the home of Doctor Who<\/em> in the UK. We don’t know what will happen with BBC America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And does this mean that spin-offs are in the works too? Disney+ does love its spin-offs…<\/p>\n
