The West End run of Good<\/em>, a drama set in Nazi Germany starring David Tennant in the lead role, closed on 24th December 2022 but those who haven’t been able to see it at the Harold Pinter Theatre will be able to catch a streamed performance later this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Widely praised by critics, the production will be streamed under the National Theatre Live banner, which brings recorded performances to cinema audiences around the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blurb for Good <\/em>reads as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Professor John Halder is a ‘good’\u00a0man. But ‘good’ men must adapt to survive. As the world faces its Second World War, Halder finds himself pulled into a movement with unthinkable consequences.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Good <\/em>was written by CP Taylor and first performed in 1981, and is regarded as one of the most important plays about the Holocaust. Tennant plays John Halder, a literary professor in Frankfurt who is corrupted by the evils of Nazism and becomes a willing participant in the regime’s crimes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Tennant stars alongside Sharon Small and Elliot Levey in the production directed by by Dominic Cooke. Tennant has been praised by The Guardian<\/a> as “spellbinding in his ordinariness, not hiding Halder\u2019s venality yet ensuring he remains human” and “terrific” by Time Out<\/a>, with both reviewers giving the play four stars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good<\/em> will be shown in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from Thursday 20th April 2023 and across the globe from Thursday 15th June. Visit National Theatre Live<\/a> to search for screenings and buy tickets. <\/p>\n
