Award-winning composer, Murray Gold, will be returning to Doctor Who<\/em> for the 60th anniversary celebrations starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gold composed the music throughout the Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors’ eras, originally joining with Russell T Davies for Series 1 and seemingly ending his monumental musical journey on the show with 2017’s Twice Upon a Time<\/em>. And with Davies back at the helm, Murray will once again work with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to compose for the programme’s 60th anniversary — and into Series 14, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murray Gold says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m so happy to be invited back for another joyful ride in the TARDIS. I didn\u2019t think twice. Working with Russell and his team is just a pleasure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Segun Akinola served as composer throughout the Thirteenth Doctor era, during which Chris Chibnall was showrunner (taking over from Steven Moffat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gold will likely create a new tune specifically for the Fifteenth Doctor too, akin to the iconic I Am the Doctor <\/em>(and its variations), which accompanied the Eleventh Doctor’s adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this mean for Doctor Who<\/em>? Well, as much as fans like a good moan, viewers typically loved Gold’s music, hence him being one of the most acclaimed in the business. It also means it’s likely, with Tennant returning alongside Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins, we’ll likely hear some much-loved classic tracks for the 60th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And heck, it might mean we finally<\/em> get the Series 10 soundtrack! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murray’s worked with Davies on a number of shows including Queer as Folk<\/em>, Years and Years<\/em>, and Casanova<\/em>, while his other TV work includes Last Tango in Halifax, Quiz, The Musketeers, Shameless, Single Father<\/em>, and many, many more.<\/p>\n
