The Thirteenth Doctor’s regeneration has been named TV Moment of the Year at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awards were voted for by the public, so it’s fantastic to see Doctor Who<\/em> still so prominent in the public’s consciousness!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regeneration took place at the end of The Power of the Doctor<\/em>, with Jodie Whittaker handing the baton over to David Tennant, who returned to the programme, albeit this time as the Fourteenth Doctor — the character even recognised those familiar teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jodie’s final scene took place at the top of a cliff, overlooking a gorgeous sunset\/sunrise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BBC1 was also named Channel of the Year at the awards ceremony, while further winners included Happy Valley <\/em>(voted Best Drama), which starred Partners in Crime<\/em> star, Sarah Lancashire; ITVX (Best On Demand Service), which hosts a range of content featuring various Doctor Who<\/em> stars, including Tennant who played the titular role in Litvinenko<\/em>, acting alongside Mark Bonnar (The Rebel Flesh\/ The Almost People<\/em>) and Daniel Ryan (Midnight<\/em>); and The Traitors<\/em>, which didn’t star anyone from Who<\/em>, but was still very enjoyable and is highly recommended (in particular, The Traitors Australia<\/em> was mad and excellent). Presenter, Claudia Winkleman, bagged the Outstanding Achievement Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering there’s not been a huge amount of Doctor Who<\/em> on screens recently, seeing The Power of the Doctor<\/em> recognised like this is certainly a great thing, and with the 60th anniversary coming up, it seems that Doctor Who<\/em> is well an truly under the spotlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
